Time for Pete and me to brew together – an IPA should be no surprise.

Notes

We started with a pot on the inside stove – the malt in 2.5 ltrs of water – which we steeped around 65deg C for 30. Whilst this was going on we set up the burner outside and filled the pot with 20ltrs of water from the hot tap and cranked the heat.

The boil pot was boiling after 20min so we added in the 3 tins of extract and re-cranked the heat. After 30min steeping, we removed the grain bag and pored the liquid into the boil pot.

The hop bag worked right up to the last 2 min where it dunked under and empted out into the pot! Ah well.

The wort tasted very hoppy, and it was bubbling nicely that evening.

27/7 The bubbling has fallen right off as expected by now and so I dry hopped the beer.

4/8 Today Pete and I bottled the beer. Wow it tasted good. I did 110g priming this time. Looking forward to tasting it for real.

Tasting Notes

I like it. A reasonable mix of hops and malt. It definitely has a kick to it judging from the hang over… opps. It is nicer than #13 showing that hop choice makes a big difference.
