I was long over due for another brew, and I was keen to try first wort hopping and found this recipe… which sounded great. I adjusted the malt values and hop values just for nicer numbers.
Notes
I just do not know what is up with me and mashing. Just not getting the numbers I want – so I thing I really need to look at my equipment setup in BeerSmith and look at my process too. I overshot the water temp so process is a big one here! My pre boil gravity was low, and I had too much volume. The wort into the fermenter tasted good.
23/3: Bottling day. I have been busy collecting 500ml glass bottles as I decided to move away from the plastic bottles. The clatter they make as you move them around rocks! Anyway bottling went well. I am disappointed by the final gravity. Too high a mash temperature. The beer tasted ok.
Tasting Notes
21/4 The carbonation is high – maybe a little too high. The colour is good, although cloudy/chill hazy. Tastes sweet which is disappointing – not bad, just not great. No yeast taste so the cold crash would have helped there.
