Well I really thought I would be brewing a Stout or Porter for #20 – and that is what I was initially planning. Then I came across this and that was that, I decided to do an Epic Pale Ale clone.
I used the usual Brew House supplier – and they did not have any Cascade on the day, but they had Citra! Now I know I should have adjusted for the % alphas… but I really like Citra so this may be more of a IPA than a Pale Ale (but then that is what Epic is about).
Notes
25/4 Well what a nice brew day! Great weather and the Mash went well, the boil great. There was a lot of turb left over – I put a bit into the fermenter but kept out the majority of it. Need to adjust my allowances for this kind of thing in BeerSmith. I need to build a hop spider to help reduce the turb.
19/5 Bottling day. I racked into the bottling bucket at it smelt and tasted great. Only got about 15 ltrs out at the end – lost heaps to the dry hops.
Tasting Notes
I like it – lots! Could do with more balance (more malt taste) but it is a great beer. My best to date.
